Alfa 156
In 1997 the Alfa 156 replaced the Alfa 155 and for the first time Alfa Romeo won the title Car of the Year. Also new was the JTD diesel engine, a giant leap forward in dieseltechnology. During the lifecycle of the Alfa 156 the car got two face-lifts; in 2002 a small one, particularly the interior and in 2003 a major face lift by Giugiaro . The Alfa 156 is one of the most succesful Alfa Romeo's ever; up until 2005 approximately 680.000 cars were built.
